The Basics: Know the Most Common Food Allergy

Food allergy is suffered by many people, no matter the race, skin color, gender, or age is. This is happened because each person has different kind of food tolerance. When we have allergy toward certain foods, the immune system will release antibody named immunoglobulin E to neutralize the allergen. Then, the next time we eat the body will respond with rejecting. This is can be shown by nausea, rashes, itchy eyes, and other symptoms. So, let’s take a look to the types of food allergy.

Egg Allergy

Eggs allergy is very common. Usually, the allergy is derived from the rejection toward the protein. The protein itself is contained in the yolks or egg white. Most people are allergic to chicken eggs. But it doesn’t close any possibility that the allergy can raise from turkey eggs, duck eggs, or goose eggs. Nowadays, eggs allergy is known as the second food allergy suffered by kids. However, the allergy can disappear as the kids growing up. If your kids are allergic toward eggs, it is better to avoid eating this food.

Milk Allergy

Milk allergy is developed since children. Even, small percents of babies under three years old have allergy toward milk. There are some babies that finally can cure from the allergy. But somehow, there are bigger numbers of babies that can’t outgrow the allergy. Milk allergy can be signed with baby’s vomiting, hives, upset stomach, and bloody stools.

Peanut Allergy

Peanut is known as a kind of common allergen. This is due to the high number of kids and people who have allergy toward peanut. The symptoms can be nausea, runny nose, hives, and tingling feeling in the throat and mouth.

Meat Allergy

This can be happened when eating lamb, goat, beef, or pork. If a person is allergic to meat, it is more likely that he or she will have allergy toward chicken, duck, and turkey. Sometimes, this food allergy happens due to the bite of Lone Star tick.

Fish Allergy

This kind of food allergy isn’t as common as eggs or milk allergy. The allergy gives similar symptoms as other allergies, such as diarrhea, nausea, rashes, flushes, cramps, and swelling. Usually, people who suffer from fish allergy can react to the smell, steam, and vapor of fishes. Fish allergy can lead to anaphylaxis too. Fish allergy can be caused by body rejection toward some kinds of fishes, including snail, octopus, scallop, crab, cod, tuna, shark, or lobster.

Wheat Allergy

People can develop allergy toward wheat if they come from a family with allergies. This is especially happened if both parents have allergies. This food allergy will occur when the allergic people eat pasta, bread, or wheat-containing foods. Even, cosmetics and bathing products that has wheat as the element can cause allergy too.

Soy Allergy

In most cases, it is babies under three years old that suffer from soy allergy. Soy is basically the content of baby formulas, soy sauce, and soy milk. When the allergy happens, it will cause stuffy nose, wheezing, itchy mouth, and hives. However, soy allergy can be outgrown as the babies grow up. This is also quite common food allergy.
